In 2007, the movie Bucket List was released which follows the plot of two men (Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson) who are diagnosed with a terminal illness. Freeman and Nicholson formulate a list of things they want to do before “kicking the bucket” hence the name. If I were to formulate a Bucket List, one of the items that would make the list would be to attend the Keswick Conference in Keswick, England. The conference, which began in 1875, emphasizes personal revival, which is the Higher Life. Keswick has a different emphasis each day of the five day event. The emphases are: (1) Indwelling Sin (2) Sanctification (3) Surrender (4) Spirit Fullness (5) Service. I believe you would agree with me this is the Christian life.

We are hosting a Victorious Christian Living Conference on Friday night and Saturday, July 30-31. Dr. David Olford and Ted Rendall will lead us in this five-session Keswick emphasis. Who should attend? Anyone who is hungry to move forward in his or her walk with the Lord Jesus. We will invite churches to bring their workers as we make an investment in the Body of Christ. I encourage you to be a part of this wonderful conference beginning at 6:30 p.m.
There are a couple of staff anniversaries that are occurring this summer. Bro. John marks 5 years of service at FBC in July, while Bro. Jeremy marked 4 years this past June. We are blessed to have these devoted servants of the Lord. Let each of these men know how much you love and appreciate them.

Tony Reinke authored a book entitled 12 Ways Your Phone is Changing You. He includes 10 questions to ask before posting on Facebook:

    • Will this ultimately glorify God or me?
    • Will this stir or muffle healthy affections for Christ?
    • Will this merely document that I know something that others don’t?
    • Will this misrepresent me or is it authentic?
    • Will this potentially breed jealously in others?
    • Will this fortify unity or stir up unnecessary division?
    • Will this build up or tear down?
    • Will this heap guilt or relieve it?
    • Will this fuel lust for sin or warn against it?
    • Will this over promise and instill false hopes in others?

These are certainly worth our consideration in the use of social media. Remember, the testimony of Christ and our personal testimony are at stake.

You are loved,
Bro. Tommy
