The month of September always ushers in a lot of “newness” whether it is inside or outside the church. Outside the church we usher in cooler weather, the start of school, and the beginning of football. Inside the church is the begin- ning of a new church year with children and youth starting new Sunday School classes.
We also begin a new month with two new Staff members. Kyle Brassell was issued a call by FBC to the staff position of Minister of Children and Recreation. Part of Brother Kyle’s responsibility is leading our Upward Basketball Pro- gram. The success of this program has been because of the involvement of our people. He will need help in evalu- ating players, and there is always a need for coaches each year. I am excited about how God will use him in the Chil- dren and Recreation ministry at FBC.
Shea Garner is our new Nursery Director. Shea has worked closely with Pat Gunter during this last year while Pat was our Nursery Director. Shea grew up at First Baptist Church, and her family is very active in the ministry of the church. Her excitement for leading this ministry excites me. Please make yourself available to serve in the nursery.
I will be making my seventh trip to Africa September 22-October 1. Randy Willis and I will minister in Zambia repre- senting Gateway International Missions. Our responsibility will consist of training 300 Pastors over a 4-day period. Dr. Rick Via, an evangelist from Roanoke, Virginia, will join us in this endeavor. There is also a three-night crusade scheduled in a soccer stadium. The potential is there to see a lot of people come to Christ. Please keep us on the top rung of your prayer list.
I love you and thank God for the privilege of serving you.
Devotedly yours,
Bro. Tommy
