Dear FBC Batesville,

It’s been almost three months since we left you. This letter serves two-fold: first to try to relay our gratitude and secondly to update you on our new life of retirement.

There are so many things to thank you for, and I hope I can recall them all. The memories we gathered during the retirement parade will forever be etched in our hearts. Your kind words and acts of love were very much appreciated. We have often reflected on the time of our last Sunday with you and how you recognized our retirement with the beautiful flowers, the plaque, and monetary gift. Our only regret is that because of COVID, we didn’t get to say goodbye to so many of you. For all this – your love, support, and encouragement – we say thank you!

With some adjustment, we have begun to settle into this new phase of life. Gale is settling into her new job and making new friends. We are so grateful God sent this job – another act of His faithfulness to us. I’ve had enough projects, appointments, and even a few days of fishing that have kept me busy. I now have a new part-time job at one of the local funeral homes. Gale want-ed me to let you all know that I have her lunch made and ready every day! We are certainly enjoying more time with family. They have been such a big help to us during this time of transition. God is certainly giving us content hearts.

On Sun, Nov.15, we joined Ephesus Baptist Church. This was my home church where my dad pastored for over 35 years. This church family was there for us when my parents died and my sister, Carol Ann. This is also where Gale and I will be buried. It felt to be the place God would have us join and serve Him.

We can never portray how much we love you all and our gratitude to you. One thing I failed to mention, which could be the most important, is that of how you have continued to pay my salary, health insurance, and annuity. For that, there really aren’t enough words to express our gratitude. With a tear in my eye, we say thank you for your tremendous generosity. We lift our hands of praise to our heavenly Father for each thought of you and your love for us. Please know that y’all will forever be in our hearts.

In Christian love, Bro. Mark
