Dear Church Family,

Over the next few weeks and months, an important committee will come together for an important work. I’m referring to our church nominating committee, a group that is tasked with finding and assigning teachers and program leaders for the many ministries of this church. As this work begins, we ask you to pray and to listen.Tremendous, exciting ministry opportunities abound in our church. There are places for you to serve. There are opportunities for you to be right where God is working in special and powerful ways. Yet we are seeing a trend. Though we are blessed with many dedicated teachers and servants (and are seeing the fruits of their labors), we are also seeing apathy and worldly priorities hampering the work and the potential of this church.
Members of the nominating committee hear many “no’s.” We understand that when and where you choose to serve is a personal matter that is influenced by many factors. Thus, the nominating committee is respectful of such decisions. But our pastor, your church staff, and the members of this committee request one thing: if you get a call or a request from this committee, take some time to pray over the matter. Ask God if He is indeed calling you into His glorious work of building His church. In your spirit, listen for His answer.

The potential impact of FBC Batesville is limited only by our unwillingness to yield to His plan. May we all be sensitive to and yielded to His will for our lives and callings–and watch in awe of what He will do!

In Christian love,
John
