“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths”
(Prov. 3:5-6).

It is such a blessing to know that I am not responsible for determining the direction my life and ministry should take. Instead, God by means of the indwelling Holy Spirit has that covered! He promises to lead me–His redeemed, blood-bought child–on a daily journey of knowing, worshipping, and serving Him. And as I yield to the controlling ministry of the Holy Spirit (Eph. 5:18), my Father leads and strengthens me for His purposes. Let’s trust this beautiful plan that He has to guide us individually, and “lean not on your own understanding.”

Similarly, I am confident that our great and wonderful God is also the only one capable of leading the path of His church. The Father planned the church. Jesus Christ the Son of God purchased the church, and God the Holy Spirit protects the church. So we would be wise as a church to look to Almighty God to guide our church, “and lean not on your own understanding.”
During June, Bro. Tommy and I have been seeking God’s will persistently in prayer, specifically regarding the ministries of this church. And, no surprise, some things are beginning to come into focus! Also, this is a time of prayer for revival, with special days dedicated to this Aug. 22-25. Church, let’s call on our Father for direction and for His favor for each ministry of this church and for a true moving of revival in our hearts!
Stay tuned as we will soon be sharing more details about how God is leading the “re-start” of specific ministries. What an exciting time to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to teach His Word! Let’s look to Him, listen to Him, and trust Him as we follow His will for First Baptist Church!

In Christian love,

John
