I told someone recently the biggest waste of money for 2020 was the money I spent on a planner. Planning consists of writing the activity in pencil and keeping a big eraser handy. We have slowly restarted some ministries in the last couple of months. Reopening the nursery has been a blessing to our young adults and has allowed the husband and wife, with small children, to worship together. We will continue the 2-morning worship services on Sunday morning with the availability of a nursery at the 10:30 service.
As we move into October, our plans are to have Sunday School for our youth, children, and preschool. The launch date for these additional ministries is October 18. Of course we know that is always “subject to change.” We have had to adopt the attitude, during this pandemic, of Blessed are the Flexible.” These classes will meet at the 9:30 hour. More information will be forthcoming from Bro. Jeremy and Bro. Kyle

Presently some of our adult classes are meeting at 9:30 with a couple of more planning to restart. I am leaving this decision completely up to our adult classes as to when they would feel comfortable to meet again. We still have the option of classes meeting sometime during the week if that would work better. This would allow us to find a room large enough to meet so there would be adequate social distancing.

One of the casualties of COVID is the cancellation of the Upward season. Our staff looked at this from all angles with an attempt to play the season. We initially planned on pushing the start of the season to January and only have a 6-week instead of an 8-week schedule. When we considered the need of wiping down the basketballs before each scheduled practice and game and cleaning the gym between each practice and game, we felt we did not have enough manpower to adequately perform these duties. After prayerful consideration, we felt we needed to cancel the season. Hope-fully when we start back next fall, we will start back stronger.
I don’t have to tell you the significance of this upcoming presidential election for our nation on November 3. I am Pro-Life and, as far as I know, I have never voted for a candidate that was not Pro-Life. And for me and my house, we are not going to start now. If you are not registered to vote, I plead with you to do two things. First of all, repent for not taking seriously your responsibility as a Christian citizen. Second, stop reading this article and get registered. With the vacancy on our Supreme Court, we see the real possibility of the court changing from a liberal bent to a more conservative majority. Maybe, just maybe, God is giving us one more chance to turn back to Him!

Yours for Revival,
Bro. Tommy
