“Praying always, with all prayer and supplica-tion in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints” (Eph. 6:18).
I know very few true prayer warriors. I’m talking about those who have moved from having a prayer life to having a “life of prayer.” This is sad and troubling. We have many spiritual opportunities as a church. We also have many spiritual battles in our ranks at present time. Thus, prayer is absolutely critical for the life and health of this church.
For these reasons, we are putting forward a structured prayer plan for June through the time of our revival  (Aug. 22-25). This special season of prayer will work like this:

  • The sanctuary will be opened specifically for prayer from 6-7 a.m. each Thursday, and from noon until 1 p.m. each Thursday. We are calling on God’s people to use this opportunity to come and pray for revival in our church and to pray for the ministries of this church. Now that God has brought us through the challenges of COVID, there are many questions about how and when (and if) some of the various ministries of this church should be re-started. May we look to God and for His direction in these matters of His church. This will be a “come-and-go” time of private prayer.
  • Each Sunday morning from 7:45-815, we will have a men’s prayer time in which we pray for the Sunday worship service, for revival, and to seek God’s direction for the ministries of His church. This will be held in the Sunday School room that I currently use (formerly used by Ken Williams), located just outside of the sanctuary. This will be a time of men praying together, calling on the name of the Lord for revival in our lives and in our church.

For me, structured prayer times and schedules are very important in helping me to maintain discipline and consistency in prayer. I suspect there are others who are geared like this.
That is why we will be offering these scheduled times for prayer here at First Baptist. Sure, a child of God can pray anywhere and anytime. But are we praying? Are we crying out to God for revival in our church, and for our community to be swept by a fresh and powerful work of our mighty God? Are we laboring in prayer as we seek God’s will for our church and her ministries? These times will be dedicated for just that purpose.

I hope to see you take part in this season of prayer.

In Christian love,
John
