It was indeed a blessing to see Bro. Tommy and Joyce reach their 10-year anniversary of serving as pastor and wife here at FBC Batesville! And it was a joy to see the ways in which they were honored and encouraged on this special occasion. However, the best way we can honor and en-courage our pastor is to pray fer-vently that our church and our community would experience a mighty moving of the Spirit of God!

As an associate pastor, it is an honor and a great blessing in my life to get to train under a called man of God and a man of God’s Word. I also get to hear Bro. Tommy’s heart as we pray together. It is a consistent heart cry to God for revival! He is asking God for our church to experience true revival, a true awakening of God’s people! And for a moving of the Spirit of God in the church that breaks out into the community and beyond!

I write this for the purpose of asking others (who are willing and mean business) to pray for God to accomplish a mighty work in our midst, to bring many to saving faith in Jesus Christ, to the glory of God! You can enter into this spiritual struggle as part of your personal prayer time, knowing that this would bless and encourage your pastor. But even better, you can enter into this spiritual struggle through prayer knowing that many people in and around this church are lost and hurtling toward a Christless eternity, even as you read this.

May we awaken, and may we–with confidence in the power of the Risen Lord Jesus Christ who indwells us–truly enter into the spiritual battle for eternal souls! It’s admittedly a fierce battle, but hear the Word of the LORD as He encourages Abram, the father of all who believes: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward”

In Christian love,
Bro. John
