Wow! What a year 2020 has been. COVID-19 has changed our lives in so many ways. Though we have some in our church who have experienced the virus, we have not been touched by a large outbreak like some other churches have experienced. We are fortunate to have a building that we can safely practice social distancing. You have also been faithful to wear a mask as you enter and leave the facilities.
My plans are for us to continue the two-morning worship services throughout the winter months. The exception to those plans will occur on December 20 and December 27 with one worship service on the last two Sundays of the month beginning at 10:30. We should be able to safely distance by opening the balcony. Bro. P.R. has planned a special musical service on December 20 and the Sunday between Christmas and New Years’ is traditionally one of our low-est attended worship services.
We are saddened at the fact of Bro. Kyle leaving as our Minister to Children. He and Jordan Potts will be married on December 19, and they will be living in Birmingham, Alabama, as Jordan finishes her education to become a physical therapist. Bro. Kyle has been a blessing to the children’s ministry and certainly leaves a void. I have been in vocational ministry long enough to find that God moves His workers, but His work goes on. My plans are to bring a recommendation in December for an Interim Children’s Minister until we decide what our next step is in this ministry.
The Lottie Moon Christmas offering for foreign missions is our emphasis in December. Our church goal is $50,000, and as I say year after year, this is the purest way to give to missions overseas. While we deal with the pandemic, folks around the world still need the gospel.
Joyce and I love you and wish you a Merry Christmas.
Bro. Tommy
