Greetings in the wonderful name of the Lord Jesus. I am grateful for the moving of the Holy Spirit in our recent “How to Live the Christian Life” revival. One of the areas Ron Lynch spoke about is being broken before God. The following is the difference between Pride and Brokenness:
- Pride grieves God while Brokenness secures grace.
- Pride sets you up for a fall while Brokenness prepares the way for God’s favor.
- Pride spawns competition while Brokenness builds community.
- Pride keeps you from praying while Brokenness causes you to pray.
- Pride blinds you to your wicked way while Brokenness opens your eyes to your wicked ways.
- Pride keeps you from seeking God’s face while Brokenness encourages you to seek God’s face.
- Pride is characterized by a stiff neck while Brokenness is exemplified by a bowed head.
- Pride fragments families while Brokenness reconciles families.
- Pride generates contentions while Brokenness invites unity.
- Pride is the mother of rebellion while Brokenness is the heart of submission.
- Pride glories in self will, self-effort, and self-exaltation while Brokenness glories in the Cross.
- Pride compares Self against others – I am smarter, cleaner and stronger than you. Brokenness compares
Self with Christ and concludes, “I am the chief of sinners.” - Pride reflects the nature of Satan while Brokenness mirrors the image of Christ.
1 Peter 5:16 says, Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.
Love in Christ,
Bro. Tommy
