I love my Sunday School class and our time spent together in study and in fellowship. Our time together is a beautiful part of my walk with Christ and fellowship with the members of His body.

In my lifetime I have seen much change in the ways local churches in our nation worship and operate. Some of the changes are encouraging. Some of the changes bring concern, especially when entertainment becomes a priority over worshipping our risen Savior.

But one part of the local church that hasn’t changed and will not change is that small group/Sunday School classes are an effective way for believers to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Here at FBC Batesville MS, we will continue to make our Sunday School ministry a very high priority. Under new Sunday School director Jason Covington’s leadership, we have scheduled four sessions in 2020 for the training and encouragement of our Sunday School teachers. The sessions (all to be held in the Family Life Center) are as follows:

  • Sunday, Jan. 26, 12-2 p.m. (lunch provided)
  • Saturday, April 11, 9-10:30 a.m.
  • Saturday, July 18, 9-10:30 a.m.
  • Saturday, Oct. 17, 9-10:30 a.m.

These sessions will be geared to encourage and equip our church’s Bible teachers in the tremendously important work of teaching the truths of Scripture and helping God’s children grow to maturity. We will strive for our teachers to leave the sessions reinvigorated and fired up about this special responsibility.
Sunday School members, we ask you to support this effort by praying for your teacher, attending faithfully, and bringing guests to experience the special fellowship of your class.

In Christian love,
John Howell Jr.
