“Then the word of God spread, and the number of disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedient to the faith” (Acts 6:7).

As Bro. Tommy has taught us, Batesville/Panola County is our “Jerusalem.” Wouldn’t it be exciting to see a working of God like the work described in the verse above–a working of God in which there is a multiplication of new believers!

We have the infrastructure in place to see such a display of power…our Sunday School classes! With those classes grow- ing, the result would be that the church would be “multiplied greatly.” It is our Sunday School ministry that is best suited for the requirement needed for this multiplication. And what is the requirement? It is this: “Then the word of God spread…” The teaching and preaching of the Word of God changes lives! Always has, and always will!

It is time for our quarterly Sunday School teacher training and encouragement time. We will look at the truths in this verse as well as cover some practical (and technical) points, following the same format as our previous meeting.

Teachers, please set aside Saturday, May 4, 9-10:30 a.m. for our quarterly training session. It will be held in the FLC. Sunday School members, please pray for your teachers. Let’s ask our Father to spread His Word through our Sunday School classes here at First Baptist.

In Christian love,
John Howell Jr.
