Welcome to First Baptist Batesville

What We Believe

Our church is a community of believers with Jesus Christ as its head. We seek to love, respect and care for one another as a demonstration of our love for God. Our outreach is to those who have no church home. Many in our area are disillusioned with religion. They have felt the sting of legalism with its impossible demands. Some have seen hypocrisy. Others have had no religious background and therefore see Christianity as irrelevant. The missing element has been healthy relationships with mature believers in Jesus.

My Dear People – April 2020

The great theologian Yogi Berra said, The future ain’t what it used to be. We find ourselves getting accustomed to a new normal and not sure what the immediate future looks like in ministry. The old adage holds true though. “We may not know what the future holds, but we do know who holds the future.” It looks like we will continue to hold Sunday morning worship online during the immediate future. I am grateful for the technology we are able to use to continue to preach and teach the Word of God. The following is a good reminder about [...]

In Christian Love – April 2020

So much is happening, and it is happening quickly. Change is coming at us from many directions. I don't know about you, but I don't like the feeling that comes with such rapid change and upheaval. And then there is my walk with my Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. He is unchanging. He is the "Prince of Peace" (Isaiah 9:6). He is "full of grace and truth" (John 1:14). If I get up in the morning and focus my mind and heart upon Him and upon His "His exceedingly great and precious promises" (2 Peter 1:4), then there is a [...]

Moments With Mark – April 2020

Dear KEENAGERS, I want to start my article by sharing Psalm 55:22. The verse reads Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you. What a blessed promise from God’s word! This is one of many verses we can always hold near to our hearts and especially during the days of Covid-19. I want each of you who is in our KEENAGER (senior adult) age range to know that the FBC ministerial staff and I want you to have the things you need during this time of self-quarantine without you having to get out of your house to [...]

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
